
Our Favorite MTB Routes
Tuesday Group Ride Route
-9 miles-
During the summer we host a group mountain bike ride. This ride starts at 6:30pm every Tuesday (weather/trail dependent) starting and ending at Zerble's Trail. The route in general will follow this one found on Trailforks. Usually this ride will range between 8 to 12 miles. You can learn more about that ride on our 'Group Ride' page.
MTB Tour of new Trails
-6 to 12 Miles-
Wanting to check out all the new trails built by Rock Solid Contracting? This tour starts you out at Zerble's Trailhead to first ride trails built by Backyard Trails LLC in 2021 and all the new trails built by Rock Solid in 2024.
This tour is linear in showing a path to start and catch all the new trails. Any of the sections can (and should) be sessioned by the rider. One way this tour is 6 miles though can easily be doubled by riding everything back.
Our Favorite Mason City Routes
Slow Roll Cruise

This route was featured during one of our 'Slow Roll' group bike rides in 2024. We wanted to feature the Highline Trail as well as go past several of the new Mountain Bike trails in town. We often will host several family friendly group rides during the summer - usually pairing it with a food truck at the end of the ride. Make sure to check our Social Media and on the Ride Club App for when these events are held!
Long Mason City Cruise

This route starts and ends at the Wayne's parking lot. If you have the time - this is the city cruising route of choice by Abe. This route takes you on nearly every single paved path around Mason City.
The 21 mile route takes you through such locations like; Big Blue, along Willow Creek, on the Highline Trail, through East Park, and into Georgia Hanford Park.
Abe's cruise is perfect if you have several hours on a comfort bike - it's even better with an e-bike where you can really see all the sights Mason City has to offer in a shorter amount of time!
Our Favorite Gravel Routes
The Lollipop Loop
-20 miles-
Start and end from the Wayne's Parking lot. Our go to gravel route is 'The Lollipop Loop'. When our weekly gravel ride heads out from the shop - more often than not we are riding a variation of this route.
During the summer months we host a group gravel ride known as 'The Coffee Ride.' This ride starts on Friday's at 7:30am from the Wayne's parking lot and will end at Jitter's Coffee Bar.
The Green Belt

Start and end from the Wayne's Parking lot. This route was from a 36 mile loop from a 2024 event - The Gravel Scavel. This loop takes you Northeast out of Mason City and down along the Green Belt. It is incredibly scenic and takes you along a few rivers in North Iowa.
Dave's Favorite Gravel Route

Start and end at Central Park in Mason City. Our resident go to gravel expert Dave shared his absolute favorite gravel route. This monster of a near 80 miler is filled with some of the best views that North Iowa has to offer. It features riding to Pilot Knob in Forest City - which is among the most beautiful spots in all of North Iowa.
Dave said it's his favorite because of just how hilly and scenic the ride gets the further West you go.
Our Favorite Road Routes
The Lake Lap
-35 miles-
This route starts and ends at the Wayne's Parkinglot. This route is the quintessential North Iowa road ride. It features the Trolley Trail into Clear Lake, followed by a counter clockwise pathing around Clear Lake.
The Lake Lap is possibly the most popular route in the area for road riders of all levels. It's a guarantee that while circling Clear Lake you will meet any number of other cyclists.
Wednesday Worlds - Breathless

This route starts and ends at the Wayne's Parkinglot. Our weekly road ride, "Wednesday Worlds" is hosted during the summer months and begins at 6:15pm every Wednesday.
The pathing is the most common route done by the Wednesday Worlds crew. This route features 'Breathless' - which is located just south of Nora Springs and is the biggest hill in North Iowa.
Wednesday Worlds - Alt Route

This route starts and ends at the Wayne's Parkinglot. Our weekly road ride, "Wednesday Worlds" is hosted during the summer months and begins at 6:15pm every Wednesday.
The pathing is the alternate route done by the Wednesday Worlds crew. This route takes you through Nora Springs, through Rock Falls and back into Mason City.
