
Special Event Group Rides

The Gravel Scavel: Part Duex

Our annual Spring group gravel ride is back for 2025 - 'The Gravel Scavel: Part Duex'. This is the second year we are hosting this group gravel event. Like last year - we will have two routes to choose from; a 36 mile and 62 mile loop. This event will start and end at Wayne's Ski & Cycle. Join us on April 27, 2025 starting at 10am in Mason City. "The Gravel Scavel: Part Duex" is a scavenger hunt gravel bike ride with fabulous prizes for those who participate!
*Ride Details: Metric Half Century (36 miles) and Metric Century (62 miles) Routes Available via Ride with GPS. Both feature mainly gravel roads though there will be brief sections of pavement connectors. This is a self supported ride with no aid stations. There are no road markings for directions - please utilize the Ride with GPS file to navigate the route. Each route provides opportunities to stop at convenience stores in the event you need food/water (Nora Springs and Rockford).
*Entry Fee: Non-Perishable Food Items or cash donation the day of the event. Non-Perishable Food Items will be donated to The Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank, cash donations will be donated to the local trails.
*Prize Details: Prizes can be claimed at Wayne's Ski and Cycle the day of the event. Stay tuned to our Social Media closer to the event to see what you can win! Make sure you check out the Trek Ride Club App and look under 'Challenges'.

As we get closer to each of our Slow Rolls this year we will be announcing the route. These will be available via Ride with GPS as we have done in the past. These events are always family friendly and we have partnered with Burrito MexPress food truck to have food available for purchase when the ride is over. Stay tuned to more details the closer we get to each event! Each ride will start at 4:30pm from the Wayne's Ski & Cycle parking lot.

Summer Group Rides

When: Every Tuesday starting at 6:30pm at Zerble's Trailhead.
Bike Type: Mountain Bikes
Distance/Pace: This is a moderate pace ride with optional segments being very fast. Approximately 1 hour 30 minute ride, 8 to 10 miles. Mainly covering single track sections.
Status: Suspended until next Season
Additional Notes: rides are weather/trail dependent. Any cancelled ride will be posted on the Wayne's Ski and Cycle Facebook page the day of the event.

When: Every Wednesday starting at 6:15pm at Wayne's Ski and Cycle.
Bike Type: Drop bar Road Bikes
Distance/Pace: It is intended to be a very physically demanding ride. On average expect 20 to 35 miles, 20mph pace and last upwards to 2 hours.
Status: Suspended until next Season
Additional Notes: If you are interested in attending please call the store to coordinate as this type of ride does require a certain level of pace to maintain: 641-423-2851.

When: Every Friday starting at 7:30am at Wayne's Ski and Cycle. Ends at Jitter's Coffee Bar.
Bike Type: Gravel Bikes
Distance/Pace: This is a moderate to fast pace ride. On average expect 15 to 20 miles, 15mph pace and last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
Status: Active
Additional Notes: If you are interested in attending please call the store to coordinate as this type of ride does require a certain level of pace to maintain: 641-423-2851.
Winter Group Rides

When: Every Tuesday starting at 6:30pm at Zerble's Trailhead.
Bike Type: Fat Tire Only
Distance/Pace: This is a slow to moderate pace ride. Approximately 1 hour 30 minute ride, 8 to 10 miles. Mainly covering single track and some double track sections.
Status: Suspended until next Season
Additional Notes: Bring a Trail Light as it is dark before the ride starts. Events are weather/trail dependent.

When: Every Friday starting at 7:30am at Wayne's Ski & Cycle.
Bike Type: Fat Tire Only
Distance/Pace: This is a slow to moderate pace ride. Approximately 1 hour 30 minute ride, 7 to 9 miles. Mainly covering single track and some double track sections.
Status: Suspended until next Season
Additional Notes: Events are weather/trail dependent.
