July 19th to July 26th, 2025

RAGBRAI, The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, is an annual seven-day bicycle ride across the state from July 19-26, 2025. In its 52nd year, RAGBRAI is the oldest, largest and longest recreational bicycle touring event in the world.

This rolling celebration of Iowa attracts participants from all 50 states and many foreign countries. It has covered thousands of miles through the years, and hundreds of thousands of riders have hopped in the saddle to pedal part of those miles.

Is your bike ready?

Final to do's for the great ride across Iowa!

If you are planning on joining parts or the entire Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa then you have some things to make sure are in order first.  The most important is making sure your bike is ready - has it been tuned up in the last year? Time is running out on making sure it's ready, our Service Center is estimating that potential lead times on turn around can be up to a week.  We always expect the Pre-RAGBRAI rush of bikes so the sooner you get in the better.

Staff Pick: Shimano Shoes

Reg: $130.00

It has been coined as "The RAGBRAI Sandal" by some.  Kyle's go to pick for the big ride comes down to comfort on AND off the bike.  This clip in sandal is perfect for those people that want a breathable sandal that is also comfortable and secure for riding.  Half of RAGBRAI is spent off the bike walking around the different towns, exploring what they have to offer.  This shoe is perfect.  It can be used with SPD Pedals or with regular flat pedals.  Either way - get around in comfort and style with these!  To answer the question - yes, we disinfected the shoe after our model was done.

Staff Pick: On Road Inflation

Many options available!

On the road inflation can be one of the most frustrating thigs to deal with on a ride.  Matt's go to pick for the RAGBRAI is tire inflation.  Having the right tube is half the battle - being able to properly inflate it is the other half.  You have choices when it comes to inflation while on the road.  You can use a manual hand pump or a CO2 cartridge.  If you are going the route of CO2 - then it is best to have a few cartridge's as back up.  A reliable handpump can also make a difference for just how long you need to be inflating.  Regardless of your style - stop in and see your last minute RAGBRAI needs filled!

Ride Club Challenges!

There are a bunch for July - Including from Waynes!

There are SO many Ride Club Challenges out in July.  Trek has quite a few - including a limited challenge that is between July 3rd and the 6th.  Ride 17 or 76 miles to win some stuff 'n things.  We also have a Challenge for July.  It is called 'The Fiver' and is about what it sounds.  Ride 5 times for at least 50 miles to win...wait for it...a crisp HIGH FIVE.  Ok, that was lame.  We will also throw in a sweet 'Go by Bike' keychain.

Staff Pick: Stans Dart

Reg: $25.00

While this was also last month's pick for Chad it is very much applicable to July and RAGBRAI.  For anyone riding RAGBRAI on a tubeless setup - having a DART and replacement sealant is a must.  Tubeless sealant will typically plug many sharp punctures caused by glass or even metal shards.  What it won't protect against are longer gashes.  While the road doesn't see that as often - having that DART to plug the hole plus extra sealant to replace lost fluid is usually going to be enough to keep you rolling to your next stop.

Staff Pick: Backup Tubes

Generally $10.49 per tube

Every RAGBRAI we get asked what is something that you need.  Abe's advice is simple.  Backup tubes for the tire size you are riding.  Flats are bound to happen when you ride a great many miles and RAGBRAI is no different.  While other people may have tire levers, ways to inflate and the knowledge/willingness to help - having the tube size you ride is the most important.  For something like RAGBRAI that is hundreds of miles over a week, having multiples with you is always a good idea.
